Restricted folders
Sometimes a team needs to limit access to specific monthly folders. Payroll is the classic example. Restricted folders let you hide a folder and its contents from users who aren't explicitly granted access.
Restricted folders are currently available for Google Drive only.
How to restrict a folder
-
Limit access in Google Drive. For an existing folder, you can do this from CloseCore: go to the folder on the Folders page, open the menu at the top right, choose Manage access, and turn on Limit access in Google Drive. You can also limit access directly in Google Drive (Google Drive's "Limit access" sharing setting). For future months, CloseCore carries the restriction forward automatically when it creates the next month's folders, copying permissions from the prior month.
You can also create a new recurring folder from CloseCore and check Limit Folder Access in Google Drive. This applies the same setting at creation. See Google's documentation for details.
-
Restrict it in CloseCore. In the same Manage access dialog, turn on restriction and select the users who should have access.
Admins always have access to restricted folders.
Good to know
- Restricting a folder in CloseCore controls visibility within CloseCore. Access to the underlying files is still governed by your cloud storage. See Managing integrations.
- Because CloseCore copies permissions forward each month, set the restriction once and it persists for future periods.
