Reports

CloseCore reports read directly from your connected ERP. Use a balance sheet or an income statement to review account balances, or build a custom report to group and filter data around the way your team works.

Viewing reports

Open Reporting from the navigation menu and choose the report you want to review. Use the Subsidiary and Period selectors to change the entity and period the report covers.

Report data is pulled from your ERP, so it reflects your most recent sync.

Balance sheet and income statement

The balance sheet and income statement give you a ready-made view of account balances without exporting and rebuilding them in a spreadsheet.

Drilling into transactions

Click a value in either report to see the transaction-level detail behind it. You can view the individual journal lines that make up the balance, making it easy to investigate a number without leaving CloseCore.

Account sign (natural balances)

Depending on how a report is configured, accounts may display with their raw ledger sign (for example, revenue shown as a negative). If you'd like reports to present natural account balances instead, talk to your account manager about the right configuration for your team.

Custom reports

Custom reports let you group and filter data by the dimensions that matter to your team.

Grouping by dimension

Build a report that groups by a dimension such as department, account, vendor, or other dimensions your ERP tracks. Combine grouping with filters to focus on exactly the slice you want to review.

Flux defaults (required explanations)

A custom report can include a flux default rule: require an explanation whenever a period-over-period variance exceeds a specific amount (or percentage). This enforces your materiality policy automatically. Reviewers are prompted for the movements that matter and can ignore the noise.

AI report commentary

A custom report can carry an AI-generated variance commentary that summarizes what moved the numbers for the period. From the Report Commentary panel, Generate produces an executive-style write-up: the grand-total variance, then the biggest drivers broken out by each dimension the report groups by, plus any standout individual rows. You can Rewrite it with an instruction ("focus on material drivers," "make it more concise") or Edit the text by hand.

You can also generate in bulk — filling in the report commentary and every required flux explanation across the report in a single pass. Existing, reviewed explanations are left untouched.

Commentary is a reviewable draft, saved separately for each comparison (month over month, quarter over quarter, year over year, and budget vs. actual). See AI variance analysis for how it works and who can use it.

Saving reports as templates

Administrators can save report configurations as report templates so the whole team uses consistent reports each period. See Close calendar & other tools.

Exporting to Excel

You can export reports into Excel for further analysis. With the Add-in for Excel, you can pull report and transaction data straight into a workbook.
