Checklist items
Checklist items are the to-dos of your close, including "Record depreciation," "Reconcile payroll clearing," or "Book the month-end accrual." View them on the Checklist page (all folders) or on the Folders page (one folder at a time).
Adding a checklist item
Click New Task on the Folders page or Checklist page. You'll set:
- a name and (optionally) a description,
- the folder it belongs to,
- its assignees: one or more preparers and reviewers, and
- its due date(s).
Editing a checklist item
Click ⚙️ Edit Task on the Folders page or Checklist page to change a checklist item's name, folder, assignees, due dates, or other settings.
Assignees, due dates, and dependencies
- Assignees: a checklist item can have multiple preparers and reviewers. A user can't be both a preparer and reviewer on the same item. See Signing off on tasks.
- Due dates: each assignee can have their own due date. Due dates can follow a business or standard calendar depending on how your workflow is configured.
- Dependencies: a checklist item can depend on another task. When the task it depends on is completed, CloseCore can notify you that the item is unblocked and ready to work on.
Bulk edits
On the Checklist and Reconciliations pages you can select multiple tasks and edit them at once, for example by reassigning them to a different user or updating due dates across many tasks in one action.
To update recurring templates in a workbook, see Update existing templates.
Filtering with tags
Tasks can carry tags, which you can use to filter the checklist (for example, to show only tasks for a particular workstream). Administrators create and manage tags. See Close calendar & other tools.
Requesting documents
If a checklist item involves collecting a document from someone (internal or external), you can attach an automatic email reminder that goes out each month.
Non-monthly tasks
Tasks that aren't monthly (for example, quarterly or annual items) appear only in the specific period they're assigned to. To see when a task recurs, check the folder structure or ask your administrator to download the current template configuration.
