Documents
Documents are the files that CloseCore syncs from your cloud storage, usually Excel or Google Sheets workpapers. You'll see them in two places: the Documents table on the Folders page (for one folder), and the Documents page (for a whole period or several periods).
Finding documents
On the Documents page you can search across all your documents by:
- name,
- account number (from the
#cc-tags in the workpaper), and - journal entry (from the
#cc-JEtags).
You can also bulk-download documents, which is useful for assembling audit support.
Workpapers vs. other attachments
You can store any kind of file in your CloseCore folders, including PDFs. But CloseCore's
automated features, including reading balances, tying out reconciliations, and enabling
sign-off from the balance, rely on Excel or Google Sheets workpapers that carry
#cc- tags. Keep the numbers you want CloseCore to read in a
spreadsheet, and use PDFs and other files as supporting attachments.
How documents sync
CloseCore syncs folders and documents inside Recurring Folders with one level of nesting, and automatically re-syncs on a schedule you configure. To pull a folder's documents immediately, use the Refresh button in the Documents table. For the full rules, see Syncing.
Rolling documents forward
Unlike folders and tasks, documents don't roll into the next month automatically, so you control the timing. Use Roll Forward on the Folders page to copy documents (all of them, or just your spreadsheets) into the next period. See Rolling forward.
Linking documents to tasks
Attach a document to a checklist item to keep its support together. If the document has tagged journal entries, those JEs appear on the checklist item too.
