Signing off on tasks
Most of your time in CloseCore is spent on the Folders, Checklist, and Reconciliations pages, signing off on the work assigned to you.
Use the My Open Items quick filter to show only tasks that are assigned to you and not yet completed. It's the fastest way to find what's left to do.
Columns every task shares
All task types (checklist items and reconciliations) share these columns:
- Assignee: the name and sign-off role of each user assigned to the task. A task can have multiple preparers and reviewers. A user can't be both a preparer and a reviewer on the same task.
- Sign-Off: to sign off on a task assigned to you, click the sign-off toggle next to it.
- Due: the due date for each assignee. Once an assignee signs off, this column also shows the sign-off date.
Preparers and reviewers
Sign-off usually happens in two stages: preparers complete the work and sign off, then reviewers review it and sign off. You sign off only for the role you're assigned. Use review notes to ask questions or request changes before signing off.
Signing off on reconciliations
Reconciliations have one extra rule: to sign off, the difference between the ERP balance and your workpaper balance must be at or below the materiality threshold configured for the task. If either balance is missing, or the difference exceeds the threshold, you won't be able to sign off.
Learn how balances are read from your workpapers in Tagging accounts & journal entries, and how to configure thresholds and fixed balances in Reconciliations.
Signing off for someone else
Managers and admins (and any custom role with the sign off on behalf of others permission) can sign off or un-sign on behalf of another assignee across all task types. Most users only sign off on their own assignments. See Roles & permissions.
After sign-off: lock the folder
When a folder's tasks are all signed off and the period is closed in your ERP, lock the folder to freeze the period. See Locking folders.
